Tony Hanbury has won in two different cars this year and on Friday night he picked up his fifth win in the headline Sunoco Modified division at Chemung Speedrome. The track welcomed back the New York Super Stock Series for their second appearance this year. They roll into town with their own team of officials and completely run their show. When their 50-lap race was over it was Jason Duke, Sr., who celebrated the win. Others who likewise celebrated on Chemung Soft Water night included Greg Moldt (4 Cylinders), Chuck Nichols (Marion Decker Hobby Stocks), and Kalysta DeMark (INEX Bandoleros).

Tony Hanbury took the lead on lap 12 of the 40-lap Sunoco Modified feature and never looked back. Early on Keith Youngs and Lee Sharpsteen brought out the caution five laps into the race while Zack Curren and Charlie Sharpsteen fought for the lead. That was the good news for heat winner Curren, who limped into the infield after completing just a handful of laps. His departure gave Hanbury an opportunity and he took full advantage of it while holding off TJ Potrzebowski. At the finish it was Hanbury, Potrzebowski, C. Sharpsteen, Lee Sharpsteen and Jesse Kent.

Chemung regular Jason Duke, Sr. may have put everyone on notice when he was fast during hot laps. The 31-car field ran in four heats, won by Nick Robinson, Garrett Zacharias, Dylan Bancroft and Jimmy Steffenhagen. Paul Godby won the consi, which set the field for the 50-lap race. Early caution flags came out for troubles by Charlie Sharpsteen, Dennis Beardslee, Cole Hicks and Chad Lane. Past the halfway point Robinson and Lee Sharpsteen were battling for the lead. On lap 37 Steffenhagen, who likes running at Chemung brought out the caution with a car fire. Several caution periods toward the end of the race changed the outcome dramatically. NYSS officials made a call to put second place runner Zacharias to the rear for contact after the caution had come out. Just two laps remained, and it was another Chemung regular who took the lead, Jason Duke, Sr. He then held off Jacob Gustafson and hard charger Mike Hyman for the big hometown win.

The track's 4 Cylinder division put on another clean race with just one caution. Greg Moldt, who earlier in the evening won his heat race, made an early pass to claim the top spot, a position he would not surrender. This one also featured some good three-wide racing action early on. At the finish it was Moldt winning his fifth feature in a row, this time over Zack Jaynes, Monica Robinson, Joey Bevacqua and heat winner Tom Shaffer.

In the Marion Decker Agency Hobby Stock division Chuck Nichols produced a sweep of the action, as has been fairly common in the division this year. Their 20-lap feature went caution-free. Nichols had the lead by lap three and never surrendered. Nichols made his return after an absence due to injuries his car sustained the last time he was at the track. Dave Decker was the runner-up, followed to the line by Josh Parker, Luke Nickles and Randy Mathews.

Kalysta DeMark is a determined young lady running in the INEX Bandolero division. She set up her car, won her heat race, then won their 10-lap feature. She had to hold off repeated challenges from heat winner Justin Teresak, but she got the job done in a big way. Driving as an Outlaw, she finished ahead of Teresak, Michael Sinagra, Derrick Vogler and Bandit winner Chase Sinsabaugh.
