Chemung Falls to Wet Grounds and Rain by Carol Houssock

(July 17th 2021 Chemung, NY) Ray Hodge, Promoter at Chemung Speedrome has gambled quite a bit this season and held "˜em on many race nights, but he also knows when to fold "˜em. By late Friday morning he had made what turned out to be the right call. "Due to already saturated grounds and a forecast for the chance of heavy rain this afternoon, we feel it's best to cancel the show for tonight. We have fought the rain the last few weeks and won so odds are mother nature has to win one and tonight she does." Ms. Nature took the five-division program, along with Fan Appreciation Night, which will be rescheduled.
 
This Friday Chemung Soft Water comes on board to sponsor the night. Chemung welcomes back the New York Super Stock series for their second appearance. The race will be 51 laps in memory of the late Ed McGuire. Garrett Zacharias won their 50-lapper last month, then went on to finish second at their next race in Oswego. Joining the NYSS on the race card are the Sunoco Modifieds, 4 Cylinders, Marion Decker Hobby Stocks and the INEX Bandoleros. Pit gates open at 4 PM, grandstand gate at 5, practice at 6 and racing at 7. Admission is $13 for adults, $10 for seniors, $5 for kids ages 6-12 and free for kids 5 and under.
